[afro-nets] March of Washingtons to fight malaria

Africa Fighting Malaria's recent study found that 35% of anti-malarial drugs sold in six major African cities were substandard and would likely not cure someone with malaria. Just three weeks after publication, our work is already having a positive impact in the field. The Kenyan and Rwandan Governments are cracking down on counterfeiters and pharmacies, citing Africa Fighting Malaria's research:

We have taken the first step in drawing attention to this critical issue and driving constructive reform. You can help us maintain this momentum and achieve access to good quality drugs for every African child.

Hedge Funds vs. Malaria and Africa Fighting Malaria launched the March of Washingtons on May 19th, the first and only grassroots fundraising effort to buy high quality malaria drugs for African children and test African markets for bad drugs.

George Washington had malaria. George Washington is on the one dollar bill. Less than one dollar can buy malaria medicine for a child in Africa. You collect the Washingtons, and we buy and test the drugs.

No march is too small. Just one Washington can save a child's life.

Half of all donations will support Africa Fighting Malaria's Safe Drugs Project to test for substandard drugs. Fifty cents of every dollar will be used to buy at least one full child treatment of ACT. AFM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

Hold your own March of Washingtons and fight malaria today! Please spread the word even if you can't March - tell your colleagues, friends and family!
